Flights from the United States

According to Cirium, the leading aviation data provider, 11 airlines will offer services between Cancún and 40 US airports. The main American transport hub to the Riviera Maya will be Los Angeles International Airport, with American Airlines, Alaska, JetBlue, Delta, United, and Volaris offering regular flights.

Several other airlines have also announced new services to Cancún. On March 7th, Frontier Airlines started operating the Miami - Cancún route with 4 weekly flights. The low-cost airline has also launched a Cincinnati - Cancún connection, with one non-stop flight every Saturday. This expands the company’s offer to 16 US cities, including Dallas, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Houston.

Moreover, Southwest Airlines is expanding operations to the Mexican Caribbean. The airline will fly daily from Phoenix to Cancún and from Houston to Cozumel, starting on March 11th. The company also expects to resume operations from New Orleans to Cancún on April 17th. Meanwhile, Sun Country Airlines announced a new flight to Cancún from San Antonio International Airport opening on May 28th. Fares will start at $129 USD.

Overall, it is estimated that 151,900 operations will be scheduled between Mexico and the US this summer and that Cancún International Airport will be one of the major destinations.

From Europe to the Caribbean

Europe will also enjoy more connectivity with the Riviera Maya. Spanish airline Evelop has initiated operations between Madrid and Cancún with a flight that will take off three times each week. Further, Portuguese TAP Airlines offers non-stop Lisbon - Cancún flights – also three times per week – from March 27th. Orbest is competing on the same route with one weekly flight.

According to Quintana Roo’s Tourism Promotion Council, both Air France and Lufthansa have agreed to increase the frequency of their operations to Cancún to five times per week. However, it is yet unclear which routes they will be prioritizing.
