Beach Paradise

Written by Natalia Bolohan

Last year our beaches went through a period of transition. The entire Caribbean experienced high levels of seaweed throughout 2015. Experts claim a number of reasons for the phenomenon, including climate change and increasing levels of pollutants. However it's important to note that it is a natural occurrence and, in fact, helped re-build our beaches by making them stronger from their core.

Fortunately, in 2016 the beaches have been seaweed free and the water has returned to its crystal clear state. Although we cannot speak on behalf of nature regarding the future, we are happy the Riviera Maya's white sandy beaches are restored and we hope they are here to stay.
